The Newport City Council sets city policy, approves budgets and hires the city manager. Its meetings are open to the public, and residents can speak.

When and where

Regular meetings are held at City Hall, with agendas posted in advance on the city website. Meetings are also streamed or recorded.

Public comment

Each meeting includes time for public comment. Residents can sign up to speak or submit written comments ahead of time.

Following decisions

Minutes and recordings are posted online. For county-level decisions, see our guide to how Lincoln County government works.
