Emma Chamberlain built a following by turning a camera on ordinary days: a car ride, a failed recipe, a trip to the store. Born May 22, 2001, in San Bruno, California, she became one of the best-known YouTube creators of her generation, then moved into coffee, podcasting and fashion.
From San Bruno to YouTube
Chamberlain is an only child, and her parents divorced when she was 5. She has described hard times for her family when her father, an artist, was ill. She attended Notre Dame High School in Belmont, California, but left during the first semester of her junior year. She later passed the California High School Exit Exam and received her diploma in 2024, at age 23.
She started her YouTube channel on June 14, 2016, looking for an interest outside school. The videos covered cooking, shopping hauls and car vlogs. What set them apart was the editing: quick zooms, on-screen text, long pauses and a self-deprecating humor that viewers took to quickly. In June 2018 she moved from the Bay Area to Los Angeles, where she became part of a friend group with James Charles and the Dolan Twins that fans called the “Sister Squad.” As of December 2025, her channel had 12 million subscribers and 1.7 billion views.
Early recognition came fast. She won a Streamy Award for Breakout Creator in 2018. In 2019, Time named her to its Time 100 Next list and to its list of the 25 most influential people on the internet, and she won a Teen Choice Award for Choice Female Web Star.
Coffee and a podcast
In December 2019, Chamberlain launched Chamberlain Coffee as an online, mail-order business. It later added tea, apparel and coffee equipment. The company opened its first permanent cafe at Westfield Century City in Los Angeles in January 2025 and a second in Venice, California, in May 2025. At the 2020 Streamy Awards, the brand won in the Creator Product category.
Her podcast began April 11, 2019, as Stupid Genius. It was renamed Anything Goes and relaunched on February 20, 2020. The weekly show touched on relationships, mental health, fashion and intuition. It was produced with Ramble Official, Cadence13 and United Talent Agency until February 2023, when it became a Spotify exclusive. It won Pop Podcast at the 47th People’s Choice Awards. On April 23, 2026, Chamberlain announced an indefinite hiatus from weekly posting.
Fashion work
Chamberlain has been a Louis Vuitton ambassador since 2019, the year she attended Paris Fashion Week through a partnership between YouTube and the brand. She became a Cartier ambassador in 2022 and a Lancôme ambassador in January 2023.
At the 2021 Met Gala she wore Louis Vuitton to the event themed “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.” The next year she worked the Met Gala as a video host for Vogue. Her interview with Jack Harlow circulated widely online. A Cartier necklace she wore that night drew criticism from some Indian-Americans, who objected to its Patiala origins. Neither she nor Cartier commented, according to Wikipedia’s account.
Her other ventures include a 2018 clothing line with Dote, a 2019 swim collection with Hollister, sunglasses with Crap Eyewear and a 2020 daily planner, The Ideal Planner. She has appeared on the covers of Cosmopolitan (February 2020), Allure (June/July 2020) and Harper’s Bazaar (March 2022). In 2020 she was also named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for social media.
Personal life
Chamberlain dated musician Tucker Pillsbury, who performs as Role Model, beginning in 2020. E! News reported the end of the relationship in October 2023. She lives in Beverly Hills, California. She lists drumming, painting, sewing, reading and guitar among her hobbies.
