Planned Power Outage In North County

Approximately 600 Pacific Power customers in the Devils Lake, Neotsu and Otis areas will be without electricity overnight tonight and into tomorrow morning so Pacific Power crews can safely relocate electrical equipment and facilities that need to move due to an ongoing state highway project. In an effort to reduce car crashes at the intersection of U.S. 101 and NE East Devils Lake Road, this project will add a left turn lane from southbound U.S. 101 to NE East Devils Lake Road.

It will raise the grade of NE East Devils Lake Road to allow people to see approaching traffic better. Shoulders will also be widened. This will provide additional safety in the area when completed, and will allow construction work to go on with less impact to traffic during construction this summer. The outage is scheduled to begin at 11 p.m. tonight and could last until 7 a.m. tomorrow although power will be restored at the first opportunity. The outage will affect all of Neotsu customers along with Otis customers on NE East Devils Lake Road from NE 10th St to Highway 101.

Customers in the affected area have been notified individually about the outage. According to ODOT thousands of cars, trucks, and motor homes move through this corridor on a daily basis and there have been a number of crashes at the intersection. These improvements will help traffic move in a safer manner. Lodging and restaurant operators are encouraged to make sure their guests are aware of the interruption. If customers have questions about the planned outage, they can call Pacific Power at 1-888-221-7070.
