The Lincoln City police department is now offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the resolution of the case involving the pedestrian that was fatally struck by a vehicle in Lincoln City in January. Lincoln City police responded on January 6th at about 7:25pm to a report of a female struck by a vehicle on NW 17th Street, near Highway 101.
When Officers arrived, they found 52-year-old, Rhonda Lynn Chapman of Lincoln City injured in the roadway being aided by passers-by. Chapman and another pedestrian had been walking Westbound on NW17th Street, near Maxwell’s Bar and Grill, moments before the incident. Chapman was struck by a motorist that left the scene prior to police arrival. She was transported by ambulance to the Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital where she died from injuries sustained during the crash.
A white extended cab pick-up with a white canopy cover was captured on video surveillance in the area of the crash. Investigators still need to contact occupants of vehicle for possible witness information (see above photo).
