Head Start Director Suzanne Miller receives a generous donation check from Teresa Engebretson and her team at Mo’s Restaurant in the Taft District of Lincoln City.
Mo’s Restaurant in the Taft District of Lincoln City keeps the community mind. “We have a table dedicated to children’s programs in our community,” said Mo’s Manager Teresa Engebretson, “when customers sit at that table the sales are collected and donated to a children’s program at the end of each month.” Mo’s gift this month, of $800, was donated to Community Services Consortium’s (CSC) Head Start preschool in Lincoln City.
Head Start Director, Dr. Suzanne Miller said, “We so appreciate Mo’s Restaurant for their generosity and caring for children in our community and here at Head Start.” Head Start preschool in Lincoln City is part of CSC’s Head Start of Lincoln County, which provides a free preschool education to children ages three to five years old in a nurturing learning environment that includes parents as important resources for their children’s learning.
Head Start has preschools in Lincoln City, Newport, and Toledo. “Head Start focuses on the whole child and includes the child’s educational, health, nutrition, family, and social-emotional needs as part of our program,” Miller said. Head Start provides every enrolled child a comprehensive health screening, which includes immunizations; medical, dental and mental health assessments; as well as meets their nutritional needs with healthy meals at school.
Head Start is now enrolling children ages three to five years old at all three sites on Tuesdays through Fridays each week. Enrollment is open throughout the year and Head Start will be moving to a full-day, full-year schedule.
