County Parenting Program Has Openings

The Lincoln County Parents as Teachers (PAT) program is currently accepting new clients for home visiting services. Services are free and available in English and Spanish to families with children ages 0-4 years old. The three experienced PAT staff strive to provide flexible home visits by working with the family’s schedule as well as meeting in a location outside the home when it is more convenient for the family.

Home visits focus on:

  • Caretaker and child bonding
  • Activities and games that are easily duplicated at home with household materials
  • Goal setting and planning
  • Completing developmental screenings (Ages and Stages Questionnaires)
  • Complete additional health and wellness screenings
  • Referrals to services (Head Start, Self-Sufficiency, etc.)

In addition to regular home visits including activities, free books, and developmental education, the PAT team hosts free, family oriented events each month at library locations which are open to the public. The events provide families the opportunity to meet and connect with other families and caretakers while learning about activities and services from guest speakers with local agencies. Parents/caretakers and their children benefit from social time with peers.

Family events occur each month in three areas in Lincoln County.

Driftwood Library, Lincoln City Every 2nd Monday of the Month 10:30am-11:30am
Newport Public Library Every 1st Monday of the Month 1:30pm-2:30pm
Waldport Public Library Every 2nd Thursday of the Month 2:00pm-3:00pm
