The Samaritan Health Services Employee Health and Safety Department has won the Safety and Health Advocate Team Award as part of the 2017 Oregon Governor’s Occupational Safety & Health Conference. The employee health and safety team was recognized for their efforts in making the health, safety and well-being of employees a priority at all of the Samaritan locations across the mid-Willamette Valley and central Oregon coast.
The award highlights successful programs that have been implemented at Samaritan, including improved employee accident reporting, ergonomic evaluations, management of employee vaccinations, annual safety fairs, reducing on-the-job injuries and offering employee wellness opportunities.
“I am very proud of the work our team has done over the years to promote a healthy and safe work environment for Samaritan employees,” said Kim Schlessinger, director of employee health and safety at Samaritan. “Their commitment to workplace health and safety exemplifies the organization’s mission, vision and values and it is wonderful for that to be recognized.”
The employee health and safety team accepted the award at the Oregon Governor’s Occupational Safety & Health Conference in Portland on March 8. The conference is the largest workplace safety and health conference in the Northwest. It is held every other year and is sponsored by the American Society of Safety Engineers, Columbia-Willamette Chapter and Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
