The artistic skills of students at Lincoln City Taft High School will be on display this Friday, March 10th from 5 to 7pm in the Chessman gallery for the Grand Opening of The Taft High Student Art Show. This show will be on display until April 10th. This show is a collection of recent work by Taft High students led by art teacher, Noah Lambie. This body of work includes guided assignments as well as independent projects from students in grades 9 -12. This show also features a collaborative class collage on old vinyl records, with each student contributing one painted record.
Taft High School Principal, Majalise Tolan, says that, “Noah’s ability to develop an art program that teaches skills and techniques as well as embraces student creativity is apparent in the work that students will have on display at this show.” “ This has been a long time coming. Taft students are highly creative and their work deserves an audience and feedback.” Says Noah Lambie. ‘I find inspiration in beauty and in the passion of performance’, says student, Tora Vinter When asked about what she chooses to draw. She is contributing an amazing sketch of Barbara Streisand.
Gallery director Krista Eddy said “the works on display showcase the raw enthusiasm and intuitive elegance with which young artist approach their artwork.”” Some of the most inspiring pieces I have seemed have been created by students taking their first steps into the art world.” Eddy said ” it is a real joy to be able to share this youthful Talent with our Gallery audience.” “ and It is nice to see the new generation of artists in our richly artistic community showing their skills, intelligence and artistic Flair for all to see.”
The work in the show has been matted and framed thanks to it a generous Grant from the siletz tribal charitable contribution fund which allowed teacher Noah Lambie to purchase a mat cutter and teach his students how to professionally mount and frame their work to achieve a gallery ready quality for the artwork.
