A fire that destroyed a house and displaced three people last Thursday evening on SE Inlet Ave in Lincoln City remains under investigation. According to Capt. Jim Kusz of North Lincoln Fire & Rescue the call came in at close to 8:30 p.m. last Thursday night and fire crews were on scene within two minutes of the call. Lincoln City Police Department was already on scene and assisted with evacuating the structure. Kusz said when the engines arrived on scene, the fire was already involved, however they were able to bring the fire under control, but there remained some exposures they were concerned about.
Approximately 20 firefighters were on scene and an additional engine was requested that came up from Depoe Bay. According to Kusz, the back of the building suffered more damage than the front and NLFR is looking at that as area of origin. Two people were transported to Samaritan North Lincoln hospital for non-serious injuries. Kusz said they also had a firefighter take a fall and injured his arm. He was taken to the hospital and released. Due to the nature of the fire, NLFR called on the State Fire Marshal to assist in the investigation and Kusz said they are also working with Lincoln City Police. The next steps he said are to conduct interviews with individuals to find out what was happening prior to the fire and how it spread so quickly. Three individuals were displaced from the completely destroyed structure.
