New County VRD Ordinances Start Soon

As of December 1, 2016, property owners in the unincorporated areas of the county wishing to operate dwellings as short term rentals are required to obtain a license through the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.  Applications from owners seeking to be grandfathered with higher occupancy limits than those established in Ordinances #487 and #490, must be submitted no later than December 31, 2016.

Review of the applications, including any requests for higher occupancy limits will be made by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, which is now the licensing authority, and Lincoln County Counsel’s Office.  The County, at its sole discretion, shall make all determinations as to whether or not to grant, partially grant, or deny requests for higher occupancy.

If you have questions regarding the ordinance and licensing requirements, please contact the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office by telephone at 541-265-4912 or by email at sheriffstrlicensing@co.lincoln.or.us.
