Lincoln City Police Still Searching For Person Of Interest In Shooting Case

The Lincoln City Police (LCPD) assisted by the Lincoln County Major Crime Team (MCT) and Lincoln County Multi-Agency Crash Team ( MAC-T) continue the investigation into a shooting, which occurred on August 26, 2016. On Friday August 26, 2016 at about 11:30AM, Lincoln City Police responded to a report of a hit and run crash on West Devils Lake Boulevard near NE 45th Street.  Police investigation found a blue Honda Civic had been struck from behind by a grey Jeep Cherokee and the Jeep had fled the scene prior to officers arrival.

Further investigation revealed a passenger in the Honda had sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and had been transported to Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital (SNLH) by another vehicle, prior to officers arrival at the crash scene. This subject was later transferred to a Portland trauma hospital. It was later determined the shooting had occurred at the Beacon Crest apartment complex a short distance north of the crash scene.

The MCT and the MAC-T were activated to assist with the investigation. Officers and Detectives were able to determine in addition to the subject with the chest wound there was a second person injured during the shooting. This subject arrived at SNLH a short time after the crash investigation started and was treated for a head wound and released.

The Chrysler 300 sought in this investigation has been located in McMinnville and is no longer a vehicle of interest. LCPD is still seeking to locate a person of interest in the shooting incident. Leonel Zamora Jr. age 33, Ht: 5’6”, Wt:160LBS, brown eyes, black hair, a Hispanic male, is still being sought for questioning. This investigation is ongoing. LCPD is appreciative of the numerous citizens who have come forward with information, which has been very helpful in moving the investigation forward. LCPD is grateful for the assistance of the Lincoln County Major Crime Team and Multi-Agency Crash Team. These teams are made up of officers and detectives from LCPD, Newport Police, Toledo Police, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, and the Lincoln County District Attorney’s Office. Officers and Detectives from the Tillamook County Sheriff and Tillamook Narcotic Team as well as McMinnville Police have also been crucial to the investigation.
