On August 18, 2016 at about 1050 AM, Douglas Buxton, age 42 of Kernville, was found deceased with his vehicle down over the embankment of Bear Creek Road near mp two in Otis. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police responded. The investigation revealed that Buxton was driving his silver colored Ford Ranger pick-up southbound on Bear Creek Road when he failed to negotiate a curve at MP two. His vehicle left the roadway, struck a tree then rotated down the embankment striking another tree. Buxton, who was not wearing his safety belt, was partially ejected causing fatal injuries. The driver safety belt had been removed from the vehicle prior to the crash. Damage to the driver compartment of the vehicle was minor. An alcoholic beverage container was found in the area of the crash associated with the vehicle however it is unknown if intoxicants were a factor in the crash pending toxicology results.
