On 8/2/2016, at 4:56 pm, deputies responded to a head on crash at 23222 Highway 20, west of Philomath. Initial investigation revealed that A 1998 Dodge Pickup, driven by Donna Michele Heavrin, date of birth 5/31/54, of Blodgett, Oregon was eastbound on Highway 20.
For unknown reasons, the Dodge pickup crossed over to the west bound lane and struck a 1986 Toyota pickup. The Toyota pickup was driven by Riley Andrew Russell, date of birth 11/12/1998, of Alsea, Oregon. Ms. Heavrin was deceased at the scene.

Mr. Russell appeared to have suffered extremely serious trauma. Mr. Russell was transported by Reach Ambulance for medical treatment. Benton County Sheriff’s Office does not have a medical condition update as of 8/3/2016 9:00 am. The investigation of cause and contributing factors to the crash are continuing. Toxicology test results will not be immediately available.
