Lincoln County Major Crime Team members immediately responded and detectives were able to make a positive presumptive identification of the recovered body to be missing person, Katharine “Katy” Roe of Depoe Bay. Investigators reported the condition of Katy’s body is consistent with having been in the water since the time of her disappearance and there were no obvious indications of foul play; however, the State Medical Examiner’s Office is responsible for conducting the official autopsy. Lincoln County Sheriff’s detectives notified Katy’s family early this morning. The Roe Family and the Sheriff’s Office thanked the local community for their support since Katy’s disappearance. Katy was reported missing on April 17th by her grandmother who reported she did not return home after leaving the Wing Wa Restaurant around 2:00am and was reportedly walking home to her residence in the Southpoint area of Depoe Bay. There has been an extensive search for Katy ever since.
