Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office has added additional features to their current mass notification system, Lincoln Alerts, increasing our capability to reach community members, visitors and businesses with valued emergency notifications and now community information from county services, city and tribal partners. The added feature allows “keyword” texting to initiate receipt of community information directly from the county’s incorporated cities, Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, county services (Transit, Roads and additional local information)other information sources. Community members and visitors can CHOOSE UP TO 3 ways to receive emergency notifications and community information from Lincoln County, Oregon: public safety, city, tribal and county officials.
HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR EMERGENCY NOTIFICATIONS?
- Residential and business landline numbers are automatically included in the emergency contact list and do not require any action.
- Address specific numbers such as mobile numbers, mobile texts, e-mail, and fax numbers are not included in the emergency contact list and require a manual sign-up. You will be required to create your own secure user name and password that will provide you with access to update your profile information anytime you need to. Visit lincoln.or.us/alerts
- Each person with their own mobile phone in your household should have their own profile.
- You are able to add multiple locations, addresses in Lincoln County (i.e. home, work, childcare addresses). The more address information you provide, the better our ability to notify you of emergencies that might affect you, your family or your business.
- Businesses can also sign-up to receive alerts related to the physical addresses of their business locations.
- Community members with access and functional needs can provide emergency responders with important information about their needs if an evacuation of their neighborhood is necessary.

- Anyone can sign up to receive community information via text from city, tribal and county officials by texting your zip code and/or any of the keywords below to 888-777.
- You will receive a single opt in welcome message. Reply YES to continue to receive SMS text messages.
- You may opt out at any point by sending STOP to 888-777.

- Community information may include street closures, water outages, and community event notices.

Jenny Demaris, County Emergency Manager stated, “The announcement of our enhanced features provides an opportunity to remind community members and businesses of current ways to receive emergency notifications especially for those who have recently transitioned away from land-line phones to mobile/cell contacts only”.
Sheriff Curtis Landers commented, “This enhanced feature is an exceptional example of our continued collaboration to support our city and tribal partners in our whole community approach to emergency preparedness; the provision of the new keyword texting feature will provide our community members, visitors and businesses with the opportunity to receive the local information they are interested in on their terms.”
Cynda Bruce, Lincoln County Transit Director emphasized the value to her Transit customers to receive immediate changes in transit service due to weather or road conditions; “The access to immediate information for our riders, at no cost to them, will be invaluable. We now have a way to notify them of route delays, changes due to weather or road conditions.”
These additional features will also provide an opportunity for Lincoln County Public Works to communicate information regarding county, state, & city detours, closures, and scheduled maintenance that affect our local transportation routes.
