Surfrider Looking For Volunteers For Seafood And Wine

Preparations are under way for the 2017 Newport Seafood and Wine Festival.  This is the Newport Chapter of Surfrider’s biggest and most important fundraiser of the year. The proceeds earned at this event cover the majority of the annual supply cost of the Blue Water Task Force (BWTF) water testing program for local beaches from Lincoln City to Seal Rock. The BWTF is the Surfrider Foundation’s volunteer-run, water testing, education and advocacy program. It takes 25 to 30 volunteers to make this event a success. The shifts are 3 to 3 1/2 hours long. Organizer say even through it can get a bit crazy it is also a lot of  fun.

And along with the satisfaction of knowing that you have helped Surfrider’s efforts towards Ocean Protection you will receive a pass for the festival. Surfrider will have a whole new booth and theme this year with the new Surf Shack/Tiki Bar it will be complete with Tiki torches, paper lantern lights, other luau/surf type decorations. We will be serving wine and mixing mimosa’s while showing surf films on the back wall of the Surf Shack, all while wearing brightly colored Hawaiian shirts. Surfrider organizers say this should be a very fun booth this year. For more details or to sign up to volunteer go online to https://newport.surfrider.org/.
