Double DUII Arrest

Tuesday afternoon November 28th at about 1:45pm State Police Trooper Wertz was dispatched to the report of a single-vehicle, injury crash on hwy 101 in Depoe Bay. The involved driver identified as 61-year old Brian Wills of North Bend was attempting to park his Dodge van behind the residence at 614 NW Hwy 101 in Depoe Bay when he struck the rear driver-side of a parked Corvette then drove down a steep embankment in the adjacent field and crashed, coming to an uncontrolled rest on its side in a stream. Wills was transported to Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Depoe Bay Fire Department assisted on scene.

A second female driver of a Chevy Lumina was identified as 37-year old Lauren Tingey of Depoe Bay. She was interviewed at the scene and reportedly admitted that she and Wills had driven in two separate vehicles from Walmart in Newport to their current location immediately preceding the crash. Tingey demonstrated numerous signs of impairment during the interview and reportedly admitted to recent use of alcohol and prescription medications. After performing poorly on SFST’s she was taken into custody and transported to Lincoln County Jail where she consented to a breath test and a result of .06% BAC was obtained. She also consented to a DRE examination which yielded evidence of impairment from alcohol, depressants and cannabis. She was lodged at Lincoln County Jail on the charge of DUII.

Sergeant Plummer contacted Wills at Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital and during the interview he demonstrated numerous signs of impairment and reportedly admitted to recent use of alcohol and a hospital blood draw showed his BAC to be .140%. Wills was cited and released for DUII.
