Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind community members who live or travel along the Siletz River, Hwy 229 area to be mindful of river levels. The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for the Siletz River and will remain in effect from Thursday morning through Friday evening. The river is currently at 7.1′ and is expected to crest at 13.66′ on Friday before 9:00am.Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office will activate the Citizen Alert notification system via phone calls when local rivers are estimated to reach the Flood Warning stage or for any other emergency event.
A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. landslides and debris flows are possible during this flood event. people…structures and roads located below steep slopes…in canyons and near the mouths of canyons may be at serious risk from rapidly moving landslides. you should monitor later forecasts and be alert for flood warnings if flooding becomes more certain. those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
