Coastal Giving For The Holidays Underway

With the holidays nearing, Newport Fire Department will be partnering with The Salvation Army, Newport Fishermen’s Wives and the Newport Elks Club to help make a difference for those in need in the community. These organizations will be kicking off the Christmas campaign today. Newport Fire Department will be accepting donations of new clothing and new, unwrapped toys at their main fire station located on NW 10th Street in Newport.

The Salvation Army is also accepting donations at their location at on NE 4th Street in Newport, as well as at the Giving Tree sites scattered throughout Lincoln County, within various businesses. Newport Fire Department will have collection barrels located at Newport City Hall and Newport Library. Donations will be accepted until Friday, December 16th. These efforts are meant to benefit Newport’s underprivileged families who would otherwise go without presents or clothing. The Salvation Army will be accepting applications for Christmas assistance at their location now through December 9th.

The Salvation Army will also be taking applications for food assistance at the same time, which is sponsored by the Newport Elks Club, its members and volunteers. You can bring hope this holiday season by donating to The Salvation Army or Newport Fire Department.
