SNLH Auxiliary Purchases Disinfectant Fogger

Each year, the Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital (SNLH) Auxiliary funds thousands of dollars in equipment purchases for the hospital. One of those recent purchases was a Halo Fogger for use in patient rooms. The Halo disinfection system is used to treat any room in the facility to kill disease-causing pathogens, including MRSA, staph and the most difficult to kill, C. diff spores. A user-friendly, dry mist-dispensing device delivers aerosolized disinfectant that reaches into every nook and crevice in a room to kill disease-causing pathogens.

It reaches surfaces that sprays and wipes can’t reach. This helps to reduce the risk of cross-contamination associated with using a rag, wipe or sponge. Also, it is safe to use around sensitive electronic equipment. The hospital’s environmental services staff have been trained to use the Halo Fogger to safely and thoroughly disinfect patient rooms as part of their housekeeping routine, said Geneva Stange, RN, who oversees infection prevention at the hospital. SNLH Volunteer Services Coordinator Celeste O’Brien said the equipment purchase, which was funded through the SNLH Auxiliary, was just under $9,900.
