On Wednesday August 3rd, 2016 at approximately 12:48 pm the Lincoln City Police department was alerted to a report of a man brandishing a handgun in the 2300 block of NE 21st street in Lincoln City. This location is directly south of the Oceanlake School, which is operating as a summer pre-school/child activity center. No children were in the school at the time, as they were on a field trip. However, the school was occupied by staff members and maintenance personnel. As a result of the armed person call, Oceanlake elementary was put into lockdown.
Lincoln City Police Officers arrived and set up a perimeter around the school and began actively searching for the suspect. Anthony Mark Marino, a 37 year old Lincoln City resident, was located in the area and detained for questioning as he fit the description of the suspect. Several witnesses then positively identified Marino as the person with the gun. Marino lived in the area and consented to a search of his residence, but no firearm was located there. A short time later the firearm in question was located near Marino’s residence and he was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Lincoln County Jail. Marino was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Menacing.
