On Friday July 8th just before 2pm State Police Trooper Zepeda responded to a single car crash on hwy 229. Investigation showed the driver of a purple Toyota Tercel, was traveling northbound on Hwy 229 near milepost 29 when the car left the roadway for unknown reasons colliding with a tree. Both the driver and the passenger were entrapped inside the vehicle. The driver was identified as 27-year old Sonya L. McCarl of Toledo. she was extricated and transported by ambulance to Samaritan Pacific Communities hospital.

The passenger was sitting in the front right seat and died as a result of injuries sustained during the crash. The passenger was identified as 28-year old Korey Shoberg of Toledo. Assisting with the investigation were Toledo Fire and Rescue, Pacific West Ambulance, ODOT, the Lincoln County District Attorney’s Office and the Lincoln County Medical Examiner. The investigation is continuing by the Lincoln County District Attorney’s office.
