During the week of June 19th-25th, 2016, Driftwood Public Library (DPL) is encouraging patrons to “Get Back in the Game at DPL” by welcoming back its overdue books and the people who love them. During this one week only, patrons can return their overdue materials to the library and have past and present fines forgiven.
“People are often nervous about returning overdue books to the library,” says library director Kirsten Brodbeck-Kenney, “and that’s the last thing we want!” In addition to excusing overdue fines for items returned that week, the library will also excuse any pre-existing overdue fines on patron accounts (for instructions on how to do this, see instructions below). This presents a wonderful opportunity for all DPL patrons to get a second chance, particularly children and teens who would like to participate in the library’s summer reading program. Any DPL patron may also have their library card replaced free of charge during this promotion.
In order to have fines waived, overdue materials must belong to Driftwood Public Library (not Newport Public Library or Tillamook County Library) and be in good condition. Patrons wishing to return overdue items should bring their materials to Driftwood Public Library or drop them off in the library’s drop box, located in the parking garage adjacent to Price & Pride grocery store.
For those patrons who would like to have old fines dismissed, please visit the library in person with your library card or photo ID. The library is located on the second floor of the Lincoln City City Hall building at 801 SW Hwy 101 in Lincoln City, just across the street from Burger King and adjacent to Price and Pride grocery store. For more information about this event, please contact Kirsten Brodbeck-Kenney at 541-996-1251 or kbrodbeck-kenney@lincolncity.org.
