First Newport Church to Partner with Family Promise
Family Promise of Lincoln County is a local family shelter serving families with children
throughout Lincoln County. Family Promise is able to provide shelter through the
partnership with local churches. So far, all the partnering churches have been located in
Lincoln City, but the program is excited to announce their first Newport Church partner,
Newport First Baptist Church. The volunteers from the churches often become a
support system and social network for our families. This community that is built can
follow our families long after they graduate into their own housing.
However, our Newport families that move back to Newport don’t get the same sense of community
when all the volunteers they have gotten to know live in Lincoln CIty. Executive Director,
Hanna Connett shares, “We are excited to grow our support and volunteer base
throughout the county so that as families move back to their community, they can
continue to benefit from the support system built through the program.” Family Promise
hopes Newport First Baptist will be the first of many partnerships build countywide.
Invitation to Family Promise’s Two Year Anniversary
The nonprofit organization has been able to provide shelter to over 100 people in just
under 2 years. The success of the program could not have been done without the help
of many. To celebrate and honor all who have been a part of this success, Family
Promise is inviting the public to their ‘Two Year Celebration.” Join for dessert and hear
from graduated families, as well as the organization’s plans for the future. This free
event will be held in Eden Hall, next to Side Door Cafe in Gleneden Beach on Thursday
