Lincoln County Sheriff Dennis Dotson announced last month that he will be retiring early, on May 31st, 2016. The Sheriff announced that he would not be running again for re-election and Lt. Landers has announced that he is running for the position, fully supported by Sheriff Dotson. This made the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners job a little easier in filling the interim position.
Lt. Landers thanked the commissioners for their support and looks forward to continued partnerships and collaboration. “Partnerships are very important to me and I look forward to the future partnerships with the county commissioners. Am I ready? I believe I am. I know there will be challenges but I am really excited to take on those challenges and move forward.”
He said he was filling some big shoes of Sheriff Dotson’s, who has been Sheriff in Lincoln County for the past 12-years. He added that because of the training he has had he feels confident in the change. There will be a celebration honoring Sheriff Dotson on his last day as he turns the reigns over to Lt. Landers on May 31st at the Board of Commissioners room at the Lincoln County Courthouse at 11:30 the official presentation will begin at 12:15. Lt. Curtis Landers will be officially appointed to the position of Sheriff of Lincoln County on June 1st.
