On April 17, 2016 at approximately 5:30am, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a missing person call in Depoe Bay, Oregon. Deputies contacted the caller who reported her 22 year old granddaughter, Katharine “Katie” Olivia Roe, was last seen leaving the Wing Wa Restaurant around 2:00am and was reportedly walking home to her residence in the Southpoint area of Depoe Bay. When she did not arrive, the caller started searching the area and subsequently notified law enforcement.
Following the initial report, Lincoln County Search and Rescue was activated. Search teams, with the assistance of Depoe Bay Fire and Rescue, United States Coast Guard personnel, and local residents conducted a ground search of the immediate and surrounding areas of the route Roe would have traveled to return home but were unable to locate her. A Coast Guard helo also searched the shoreline and ocean waters.
Katie Roe is described as 4’09” tall weighing approximately 90 pounds. She has long brown hair and blue eyes. Katie was least seen wearing black pants and a white long-sleeve shirt with a black fleece vest. She was believed to be wearing black tennis shoes at the time of her disappearance and carrying a small back pack. Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Crime Reduction Unit are conducting further investigation regarding the Roe’s disappearance.
