Governor Kate Brown has announced the appointment of State Representative David Gomberg (D-Otis) to her Small Business Advisory Cabinet. Members of the Governor’s Cabinet will include small business owners and advocates. The Cabinet will provide recommendations on access to capital, the state’s role in promoting entrepreneurship, mentorship and regulatory challenges for small business.
“I look forward to learning more from business owners about how state government can support small businesses and entrepreneurs,” said Governor Brown. “The diversity of perspectives represented on the cabinet will assist and inform my efforts to make sure government adds value to Oregon’s economic enterprise.”
“I am very excited to be part of this Cabinet,” said Rep. Gomberg. “Small businesses are the backbone of our communities. They create jobs. They create a pathway to a sustainable future for owners, their families, and their employees. They deserve all the help we can give them.”
Gomberg and his wife Susan own a coastal retail and wholesale kite business. In 2012, they were named Business of the Year in Lincoln City.
The Small Business Advisory Cabinet is charged with developing recommendations to Governor Brown on how state government can support small business owners and emerging entrepreneurs and advance statewide economic growth. The Cabinet will deliver recommendations on three priorities by October 1, 2016:
• How state government can further the support and promotion of small business owners and prospective entrepreneurs.
• How state government can increase access to capital.
• How state government can streamline regulations to help small business owners and prospective entrepreneurs navigate the myriad laws and policies of state government.
