The 25th anniversary of the RSVP Chocolate Classics will be held Saturday night starting at 5. This year they have moved to a new location to the Pacific Maritime Heritage Center overlooking the Newport Bayfront. Parking is limited however there will be a shuttle running from Yaquina View School to the event throughout the evening. This is a fundraiser for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.
They offer several programs to help seniors besides volunteer placement including offering the foster grandparent program through Lincoln County Schools. Volunteers help with SHIBA medicare counseling, there is a durable medical good program to help seniors with grab bars and items needed to help them remain in their home. They have a senior companion program, veterans programs, and tax help among others.
At the chocolate classics attendees will have the opportunity to sample chocolate creations from the areas best chefs. There will be non-chocolate items available also, including Mo’s Clam Chowder and live music. State Representative David Gomberg will be a guest speaker and State Senator Arnie Roblan will be the guest oral auctioneer.
There are many great items for both the silent and oral auctions including overnight stays and gift certificates to local restaurants and businesses. Diamonds By The Sea has once again generously donated a diamond heart necklace for the raffle. For tickets go online to http://rsvpoflbl.org/ under events. Tickets will be available at the door at a higher cost.
