On October 11th, 2015 at about 13:17 PM, Deputy Ben Klecker with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office observed 37 year old, local wanted subject Brian Thomas Delahanty of Toledo, drive by the Sheriff’s Office in Newport. Deputy Klecker attempted contact with Delahanty near the Newport Post Office, when Delahanty sped off at a high rate of speed. Delahanty was later observed on surveillance video as running a stop sign and almost colliding with another vehicle. Delahanty’s vehicle was located near the J.C. Market in Newport.
Delahanty was observed running northbound away from the vehicle with an 8 year old child. It was later determined the 8 year child was inside the vehicle at the time of the elude and also not in a proper child safety seat. Delahanty was pursued on foot until the child was taken into protective custody. Newport units arrived on scene, stood by with the child, and assisted in the pursuit of Delahanty.
Delahanty was caught and arrested by Deputy Klecker near the 200 Block of NW 6th Street in Newport. Delahanty was tranported to the Lincoln County Jail, where he was found to be in possession of heroin. Delahanty was lodged on charges of; Felony attempt to elude, Misdemeanor attempt to elude, Reckless endangering of another person, and Unlawful possession of heroin. Delahanty’s total bail for his new charges was set at $180,000. Delahanty was also booked for his local Lincoln County Circuit Court warrant. Delahanty’s bail for the warrant was set at $25,000.
