The Port of Newport will be hosting a community meet and greet in Newport with the four finalists for the Port’s General Manager position on Monday, February 12, 2018.
The event will be held at the Pacific Maritime and Heritage Center, 333 SE Bay Blvd, Newport, OR 97365, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The four finalists will be introduced and asked to give a short introduction speech beginning at 6:00 p.m. Appetizers and beverages will be served. The finalists for the General Manager position include (in alphabetical order):
George Hearn, of New York, New York; most recently Senior Director in Trade and Development with the Georgia Ports Authority. Hearn previously held Vice President roles with American President Lines and Orient Overseas Container Lines.
Ken Maynard, of Goodyear, Arizona; presently a Sergeant for the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, and in law enforcement for over 25 years. Maynard previously was CEO/Business Owner of Beyond Mail, a mail shipping store. Maynard is a Veteran of the US Coast Guard.
Doug Parsons, of Los Alamos, New Mexico; most recently General Manager of Carlisle Energy Services, and lived in Lincoln County, Oregon from 2014-2017. Parsons was previously Managing Director of SteriGenics, CEO of SunEnergy Power Corporation, and held leadership roles in both the nuclear and solar energy industries. Parsons is a Veteran with the US Navy.
John Todd, an Oregon native. Most of his career was with the U.S. Navy, first as an officer and then directing security for the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program in Washington, D.C. His last government position was as Chief Defense Nuclear Security for the National Nuclear Security Administration. Todd also was Project Manager for a non-profit before returning to Oregon.
