Jail Work Crews Clean Up In Siletz

Through a $900 grant from the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, the Lincoln County Community Justice – Adult Parole and Probation Work Crew partnered with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office forest deputy to locate problem areas in need of clean up in the Siletz area. On 07/5/17 the work crew cleared over 700 pounds of solid waste from an abandoned transient camp on Old River Road and trash dumped along the roadways. The Lincoln County Solid Waste District covered the fees for disposing of the waste, and the Sheriff’s Office assisted with transporting the waste to the landfill.

On 09/29/17 the work crew cleaned up the skatepark, the stadium area around Siletz School and approximately 3 acres of blackberry bushes, overgrowth and ivy from the Siletz Tribal Sweat  Lodge property. Debris included bike tires, alcohol bottles and drug paraphernalia. This is a great example of what can be accomplished through strong community partnerships. If your public entity or 501.3.c is interested in scheduling the Lincoln County Work Crew for your one time project or ongoing maintenance, please contact Ken Krause at 541-265-0187 or kkrause@co.lincoln.or.us for more information. Fees range $200-$450 a day.
