Pedestrian Struck By A Car On Hwy 101

On November 6, 2017, at approximately 5:36pm, Newport Police and Fire Department responded to a pedestrian/vehicle crash at the intersection of Hwy 101 and NE 11th. Pedestrian, Rolf Lengwenus, age 67 of Newport, was found in serious condition in the north-bound lane of Hwy 101. With the aid of Newport Fire and PacWest Ambulance, Mr. Lengwenus was transported by Life Flight crew to Corvallis Hospital where he was reported to be in stable condition. The driver was not injured during the incident.
