First Interstate Bank Helps Support School Resource Officer Position

The Lincoln County School District is grateful to receive $15,000 commitment from First Interstate Bank to be used to support a school resource officer located Newport High School for the for the next three years. The bank, which recently opened for business in Newport, prioritizes partnerships with local schools and community organizations focused on youth education, safety and development.

According to Sue Graves, Safety Coordinator for the Lincoln County School District, First Interstate Bank’s contribution toward the position is a valuable partnership which will complement the City of Newport’s commitment to fund 50% of the required staff salary for the next three years.

“First Interstate Bank is proud to support Newport Schools and the Resource Officer Program,” said Trevor Brittsan, Retail Manager at First Interstate in Newport. “Giving back to the communities we serve is woven into the cultural fabric at First Interstate, and we’re honored to support such a worthy cause. Hats-off to all the educators in our community—their dedication and passion is inspiring.”

Primary Roles of our School Resource Officers (SRO): The SRO will proactively promote school safety and support student success by:

  1. Education: Educating students and staff on issues today’s youth struggle with;
  2. Building Relationships: Developing positive and trusting relationships with students and staff; and by
  3. Supporting Administrators: Assisting school principals with law enforcement related matters at school.
