Structure Fire In Toledo

Early this morning (9/15) around 1:30 am Toledo fire crews were dispatched to a report of a structure fire on SE 18th street. Arriving fire crews found the home completely involved. A pickup truck parked at the front of the house also became engulfed in flames. According to Toledo Fire Chief Will Ewing the family awoke at the sound of the fire and escaped out the back of the home. Chief Ewing said there were smoke alarms in the home however they were not working. Toledo fire crews responded with 2-engines, a brush truck and a command vehicle and 11 personnel. They were able to get the fire knocked down within a couple of hours. Fire crews stayed on scene until around 7 am to continue knockdown and watch for hot spots. Both the home and the pickup were a complete loss. There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
