High Speed Pursuit Leads To Arrest

On Friday, August 4th, 2017 at approximately 11:00am , Detective Aaron Pitcher of the Toledo Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired tags in the area of NE Arcadia and Burgess in the city of Toledo.  The Honda Coup sped off East toward Highway 20.  The vehicle, later determined to have been driven by 39 year old Earl Anthony Reid of Toledo, Oregon, continued onto Highway 20 heading East at speeds up 70 mph. The vehicle eventually stopped at Pioneer Mountain Loop. Detective Pitcher had Reid at gun point waiting for back up from LCSO (Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office) and OSP (Oregon State Police). Reid continued to yell at Detective Pitcher to shoot him. LCSO arrived on scene and Reid was taken into custody without incident. Reid was transported to Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport for an evaluation and then lodged at the Lincoln County Jail.  He was arrested for Felony Elude, Reckless Driving, Unlawful Possesion of Methamphetamines. Reid is a correction offender on post prison supervision for methamphetamines.
