By Kiera Morgan

Port of Newport General Manager Kevin Greenwood resigned last week. Aaron Bretz, the newly hired director of Operations is acting port manager. Neither the port commission nor Mr. Greenwood would make any further comment. The Port Commission will be meeting at noon tomorrow (7/25) to further discuss the hiring process for a new Port Manager. Mr. Greenwood was hired in 2014 to replace Don Mann as Port Manager when he retired.

According to the commissioners evaluations of Mr. Greenwood there were many positive marks, especially with how he has dealt with personnel. There were also some weak areas but the overall evaluation appeared to be average. Mr. Bretz was recently hired as the Director of Operations and joined the Port after retiring from the Coast Guard with 21-years of service.
