Beach, Bacon And Brewfest A Success For Lincoln County Charities

Saturday July 15th was the third annual Beach, Bacon and Brews Event at Chinook Winds Casino Resort. This year there were more than 800 guests who attend the event. Sunny valley Bacon was once again the exclusive bacon sponsor. Charity cooking teams competed serving up “bacon bites” to attendees. All bacon bit proceeds went to the various charities. There were professional chefs who cooked for some of the teams and there were home cooks that cooked for their teams. Heather Hatton, Chinook Winds public relations manager said they were thrilled with the success of this years’ event.

The Taft Tiger Boosters won the judges Home Chef Division.  Lorna Davis with the Newport Chamber of Commerce won the people’s choice for the home chef division. The Neighbors for kids chef won second place in the judges pro chef division.  The big winner was Da Fat Boyz BBQ from Depoe Bay. They represented Depoe Bay Food Pantry and won the Professional Chef Division, People’s Choice and Grand Champion. The total amount raised for charities this year was more than $10,000.
