Volunteers are invited join Warm Current and Neighbors for Kids for surf and stewardship camp at Otter Rock. Volunteers are needed to help teach kids to surf, help captain the stewardship cleanup, or teach kids about the Otter Rock Marine Reserve flora and fauna. The first kid zone surf camp will be held this Friday at Devils Punchbowl state park in Otter Rock.
Warm Current started as group of friends in 2009, sending donated wetsuits to organizations providing surf-focused youth development programs in Peru, Chile and Mexico. Since then the group has established a chain of donation bins on the west coast and donated over 300 wetsuits to organizations whose work provides under served youth access to the ocean, both locally and around the globe. Over the past four years, with over 350 volunteers, Warm Current has worked with over 600 youth from communities along the west coast, teaching basic surfing techniques, supporting personal growth and empowering participants to become environmental stewards.
Volunteers are needed to help both in the water with Surf Instructors, Beach Captains are needed on the beach keeping time and overseeing and general help getting kids suited, taking photos, building a fire and being beach helpers.
