Shortly after 7:00PM on Thursday, July 6th North Lincoln Fire & Rescue District #1 was dispatched to a structure fire at 1921 NE Spindrift Court in the Roads End area of Lincoln City. Fire crews arrived to a large two story home with smoke and flames shooting up the exterior wall from the first floor, on the front of the building.
Neighbors had called 911 after smelling smoke and seeing the flames from the structure. The home was not occupied at the time of the fire and North Lincoln Fire volunteer firefighters quickly attacked the exterior fire and made forcible entry through the front door into home to access the front bedroom and attached garage which had an entree door to the large crawl space under the structure.
The fire which damaged a small portion of the front of the house and one first story bedroom has been estimated to be around $50,000.00. No extensive smoke damage had occurred to the home since many of the interiors doors had been closed and/or quickly shut by the firefighters, so damage to the interior was contained to the one bedroom and the crawl space.
North Lincoln Fire responded with sixteen firefighters, in two engines, one ladder truck, two heavy rescues, two light rescues and one staff vehicle to the scene. Mutual-aid was requested was requested from Depoe Bay and Nestucca Fire to cover the District for the duration of the event. The scene was cleared by 9:15PM with no injuries to civilian or fire service personnel. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, but appears to be accidental.
