Governor Proclaims Oregon Coast Aquarium Day

In recognition of the Oregon Coast Aquarium’s commitment to animal rehabilitation and marine science education, Governor Kate Brown proclaims May 23, 2017 as Oregon Coast Aquarium Day. The day marks 25 years since the Aquarium first opened its doors in 1992. Since that date, the facility has attracted more than 14 million visitors. “It is an honor to have this statewide recognition of our organization’s 25-year history here in Newport,” said Carrie Lewis, President/CEO of the Aquarium. “What a great way to celebrate our anniversary, kick off our busy season, and raise awareness about the vital work we do!”

In addition, the Aquarium will be launching a weekly sweepstakes to commemorate the occasion. Each week, a winner will win a night’s stay at Elizabeth Street Inn in Newport, a behind-the-scenes tour of the Aquarium, and a six-pack of the “Oregon Coast Aquarium 25th Anniversary Ale”, by Newport, Oregon-based Rogue Ales. Winners will be selected every Tuesday in June and July of 2017.
