Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital has filled a top leadership position with the naming of Kathy Skipper, RN, MN, MS, as the hospital’s vice president of patient care services.
Skipper assumed duties at the Lincoln City hospital on April 17. In her role, she will provide management oversight to the hospital’s nursing and clinical departments, including emergency services, surgery, diagnostic imaging, home health, physical rehabilitation and maternity, to name a few. She will work in collaboration with the other hospital administrative leaders, Chief Executive Officer Lesley Ogden, MD, and Chief Operating Officer Virginia Riffle, RN.
“Kathy was selected after an extensive interview process that included meetings with our executive team, management team and providers,” Riffle explained. “She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with her. We are very excited to welcome her to our team and to the community.” With 30 years of nursing and nurse management experience, the native Oregonian has worked at many respected health care facilities throughout the Northwest, including PeaceHealth in Washington state, and Providence Health in Medford, where she was chief nursing officer. Skipper has a clinical background in intensive care/critical care as a clinical nurse specialist and she holds a master’s degree in nursing and medical informatics.
“Lincoln City is a wonderful community and I have visited often,” Skipper said. “The opportunity to become a part of this community and to contribute to the excellent medical and nursing services already in place is something that very much attracted me to Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital.” When she is not busy at work, Skipper has volunteered with Search and Rescue, CASA and first aid support at community marathons.
