LCSD School Superintendent Resigns

On behalf of Lincoln County School District Board Chairman Ron Beck, announced that Steve Boynton has resigned as Superintendent effective today.  The board accepted his resignation and approved a separation agreement at a special board meeting this morning. Chairman Beck then asked for consensus from the board regarding approaching former Superintendent Tom Rinearson as an interim superintendent for the remainder of the year, which will give the board time to consider leadership for next year.  Beck told the board that he will arrange a meeting with Tom and report back to the board at their regular meeting on April 12th at Taft 7-12 in Lincoln City.

Beck emphasized that the board action to accept the resignation is in no way reflective of the investigation into claims that there may have been inappropriate behavior at a recent sports celebration party and sleepover at the Superintendents home in Waldport. The results of the investigation will be brought to the board at their meeting April 12th. Beck said this is a decision that Boynton has had to make for himself and his family. As part of the separation agreement Beck said the district will pay Boynton his salary for up to one year or until he finds another job plus his vacation pay.

  1. It’s too bad that a teacher can’t even have a celebration party without being accused of inappropriate behavior by people who weren’t even there. Such a shame.
