On May 3, 2016 at approximately 10:00 AM Oregon State Police was notified by a fisherman of a deceased body he found in the Whale Cove water area just south of Depoe Bay. The body was recovered and at this time is confirmed to be an unidentified male. The Oregon State Police Medical Examiner will work on identification through DNA. OSP Patrol was assisted by Depoe Bay Fire, Seal Rock Fire, US Coast Guard, OSP Fish and Wildlife and Criminal Division.

We have not received confirmation yet as to whether this is the 26-year-0ld male from Georgia who was swept off the rocks on April 15th at Rocky Creek Scenic View Point, just south of Whale Cove, whose body was never recovered.

  1. Has this person been identified yet? There is still a young man (22, now 23 years old) missing from Coos Bay since February, 2015 named Angelo Ramon Reed.

    • The person has not yet been positively identified, though it was suspected that it was a Georgia man who was washed into the ocean at Rocky Creek while taking pictures. They could not officially release that however without confirmation from the Coroners office.

  2. Any idea how much longer it will take to identify this man?

    • Oregon State Police hasn´t released an update for this story, but although they haven´t confirmed it, the likelyhood is that it is the Georgia Man who was swept off the rocks just south of the cove two weeks earlier whose body hasn´t been reported to have been found.

  3. Has this person been identified yet? Angelo Reed is still missing from Coos Bay. Thank you.
