Jillian McCabe Has Plead Guilty to the Murder of her 6-year-old Son
On Monday, February 22nd, 2016, 34-year old Jillian McCabe plead guilty to murder. She admitted to throwing her 6-year-old son, London, from the Yaquina Bay Bridge on November 3rd, causing him to drown. She received a sentence of life in prison, with mandatory 25-years. The charges of 1st degree manslaughter and aggravated murder were dropped as a result of the plea agreement. The state played a video from London’s memorial service for the court before sentencing. During the video, McCabe sobbed and laughed while watching scenes from her son’s life. At sentencing, her attorney, Deborah Burdick, told the judge that Mrs. McCabe suffered from mental illness at the time that she killed her son, but admitted to being guilty. When asked if she wanted to make a statement, she said, “I love you London and I will always be your mom.” London was a kindergartner at Crestview Heights School in Waldport. He and his family had recently come to Seal Rock from the Hood River area.
