On December 26, 2015 at approximately 6:42pm, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a reported stabbing in the Seagrove residential community located south of Gleneden Beach, Oregon. Deputy Karl Vertner responded to contact the victim, a 34 year old adult male, who initially reported an unknown subject stabbed him twice in the upper back at an unknown location in Gleneden Beach while he was walking alone. The victim reported the suspect fled on foot following the incident. The victim was subsequently transported to Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital by PacWest Ambulance for treatment of two non-life threatening puncture wounds.
Follow up investigation conducted by deputies revealed the incident was domestic violence related and occurred at the victim’s residence located on Beaver Court in Gleneden Beach, Oregon. Following multiple witness interviews, deputies re-interviewed the victim at the hospital and learned his live-in girlfriend, 32 year old Gleneden Beach resident Melissa Anne Greenawault, obtained a kitchen knife during an argument and stabbed him twice in the back.
Greenawault was taken into custody and lodged at the Lincoln County Jail on the following charges:
Assault II (Domestic) – one count
Assault IV (Domestic) – one count
Unlawful use of a weapon – one count
Greenawault’s bail was set at $175,000.
The victim was released from the hospital following treatment for his wounds.
