Lance Corporal Windsor proudly served as an infantryman assigned to 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, in Twenty-nine Palms, California. His unit deployed to Iraq in January 2007. Lance Corporal Windsor was the point-man of the 1st squad for his platoon and was known by his platoon sergeant to have good combat instincts.

“While I never had the opportunity to meet Nathan, he was a remarkable young man,” said State Rep. David Gomberg, whose district includes Newport. “We are both saddened by his death and proud of his sacrifice. We, the members of the Seventy-eighth Legislative Assembly, recognize and honor United States Marine Lance Corporal Nathan Windsor for his service to his country,” he added.
