U DA MAN Volunteers Help The Port

U DA MANPictured are Steve Schulist, President of the UDAMAN Fishing Tournament group, Bob Jozwiak, Ryan Miner, Tom Simpson and Port of Newport employee David Behrens.

U DA MAN group volunteers got together to lend a hand at the Port of Newport South Beach Marina Facility. On Sunday a group of seven volunteers from the U DA MAN Fishing Tournament coordinated with South Beach Marina Harbor Master Chris Urbach and worked with Port of Newport employee David Behrens on a painting project. The Port of Newport has been a supporter and sponsor of the U DA MAN Tournament, held in October at the South Beach Marina Facility for over 15 years.

Knowing that the Port of Newport has limited budget resources, the U DA MAN group volunteered for several hours painting the garbage can enclosures at the marina. These projects free up manpower for the Port and improve the marina cosmetically and hopefully protect the enclosures from further weather damage.

The U DA MAN group hopes to finish the painting project in the near future and continue to work with the South Beach Marina staff on future projects to help repay them for their continued support of our tournament. The U DA MAN Fishing Tournament is being held this year on Saturday, October 10th. Anyone wishing to volunteer with the tournament can go online to their Facebook page for further details and meeting dates.
